Wild game feed group seeks donations of fish

The Ed Polzine Wild Game Feed is accepting donations of fish for its Saturday, Oct. 5 fish fry and 30 Guns in 30 Minutes raffle at the Brandon VFW. Raffle tickets will be available in the near future.

Brandon Community Foundation grant deadline nears

Sunday, Sept. 1 is the final day to apply for a grant from the Brandon Community Foundation. The mission of the BCF is to build a brighter tomorrow through philanthropy and investing in non-profits/ideas that improve the quality of life for all ages through the arts, recreation, health, education, public safety and more.

Since its start, the BCF has given more than $315,000 in grants to non-profit community organizations.

Journal office closed Monday

The Brandon Valley Journal office will be closed Monday, Sept. 2 for the Labor Day holiday. There will be early deadlines for news submissions and advertising for the Sept. 3 issue of the Brandon Valley Trader and Sept. 4 issue of the Brandon Valley Journal. Please have submissions to us by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28.

Brandon City Council to meet Tuesday

Due to the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 2, the Brandon City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3. As always, these meetings are open to the public and time is reserved for public comment.

 

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry

Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are laundry detergent (78 oz. bottles preferred), toothpaste and single toothbrushes, shampoo, bar soap, crackers (saltine and snack), cereal, pancake mix and syrup, jams/jellies, canned soups (Pantry has an ample supply of chicken noodle and tomato).

Donors are asked to check expiration dates on items. The Pantry is not in the practice of dispersing items that have expired.

To make appointments for pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Used eye glasses and hearing aids for the Brandon Lions Club may also be dropped off at the BAFP.
