He was named All-Conference in 1989 and 1990, All-State in 1990, and Argus Leader Elite 45 in 1990. Casey was a part of a defense that allowed no more than 13 points in any one game during the season. He set school records for most tackles in a season with 147 during his senior year and 300 for his career.

After his career at Brandon Valley, Casey went on to become a four-year starter and letter winner at South Dakota State University as a cornerback and safety. While with the Jackrabbits, he played as a true freshman, and was voted four times as the most valuable defensive player.

His favorite memories from his time at BVHS were being a part of and winning three straight state championships.
