Myron E. Smook, 68

Myron Edward Smook, 68, of Luverne, died Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage in Luverne, Minn.

He was born on May 19, 1952 to Harold and Marjorie (Donth) Smook in Luverne, Minn. Myron lived in Magnolia, Minn., all his life except for a few years while living in Fargo, N.D., when he was in his late teens. At the age of 25, Myron built his house from the ground up. He worked as a mechanic at Connell Chevrolet and Herman Ford. Most of his working years were spent as a truck driver, working for Midwest Coast and IBP. His other jobs included working for Cenex and as a welder for Sioux Falls Construction, Midwest Railcar Repair, and finally Wheeler Tank before retiring in 2020.

Myron was perfectly content living on his property in Magnolia. He loved his dogs. They kept him company and were his family when no one else was around. He loved to work on cars and built two different hot rods. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Myron called himself the “Smook Dog.” He was always willing to help others, whether it was fixing something or giving advice. His personality was such that he wanted things done his way and always stood his ground and wouldn’t back down.

Myron is survived by his children, David (Karen) Smook, Brandon, Scott Smook, Minneapolis, Minn., and Jennifer (Kendall) Rhyne, Rockville, Md.; eight grandchildren; and siblings, Curtis (Mary) Smook, Dennis (Arlene) Smook, Randy (Vicky) Smook, Kevin Smook, and Jenalee (Allen) Klein.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Per Myron’s request, no services will be held.
