Marion G. Hartman, 100

Marion G. Hartman died on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021 at the age of 100.
 
She was born on Nov. 3, 1920 in Slope County, N.D. She was baptized as an infant. Marion exhibited a strong Christian faith throughout her lifetime and was an active member of several Lutheran churches over the course of her life.
 
Marion began her education in a country school and attended high school in New England, N.D. After attending Dickinson State College, she taught two years at one-room country schools.
 
Marion married Arnold Hartman on March 28,1942 in Regent, N.D. They were blessed with three boys and six girls. They lived on farms and enjoyed large gardens. They moved to Rapid City, S.D., in 1968, where she tended a smaller garden. Marion worked in electronics for 11 years. After retiring, she babysat for several more years.
 
Marion and Arnold moved in 1999 to Brandon, S.D., to be close to family. In her later years, faith, family time and reading were her passions. Marion’s faith was most important to her, and her whole family considered Marion to be a prayer warrior.
 
Marion was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She is survived by Eileen of Sioux Falls; Gene (Alice) of Carmichael, Calif.; Geraldine of Tampa, Fla.; Linda (Chuck) Weber of Orangevale, Calif.; Phyllis of Carmichael, Calif.; Lois of Sioux Falls; Rod (Christine} of Brandon; Cindy of Sioux Falls; and Shane (Kristin) of Sioux Falls. In addition, survivors include 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great granddaughters, one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
 
Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Frieda Stafford; her husband, Arnold; and her two brothers and five sisters; and one granddaughter.
 
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021 at Faith Lutheran Church with interment at Brandon Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb, 20, 2021 prior to the service.
