Tschetter awarded SDSMA Junior Scholarship

Jada Tschetter, of Brandon, was awarded South Dakota State Medical Association Junior Scholarship at the organization’s annual conference on May 30. The SDSMA foundation awards these scholarships to medical students attending the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine during the 2025-26 school year. The SDSMA Junior Scholarship is awarded to a student in their junior year of medical school who is top ranked in their class.

 

Moser included on Missouri State University dean’s list

Katelyn Moser, of Renner, was named to the Missouri State University dean’s list for the spring semester. Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours during the semester and have a minimum 3.50 grade point average on a 4.00 scale.

 

NSU recognizes students named to President’s, Dean’s, Academic Recognition lists

A number of area students achieved academic honors following the spring semester at Northern State University in Aberdeen. 

Students named to the President’s List are Abigail Huska, Melissa Jacobson and Alexa Johnson, all of Brandon, and Alicia Gedge, of Valley Springs. The President’s List honors full-time undergraduate students who have achieved a perfect 4.00 GPA for the semester. 

Local students included on the Dean’s List are Kennedi Deckert, Jaci Stemwedel, Emma Wanstrath, all of Brandon, Lauren Ruhlman, of Valley Springs, an Mikaila Van Hill, of Renner. The Dean’s List recognizes full-time undergraduate students who have attained a GPA of 3.50 to 3.99 during the semester. 

 

Bennett included Ohio University Dean’s List

Kevin Bennett, of Brandon, has been named to Ohio University Scripps College of Communication Spring 2025 Dean’s List. The Dean’s List recognizes undergraduate students who complete a particular semester with a GPA between 3.5 and 3.999 with a minimum of 12 credit hours attempted for letter grades that are used to calculate GPA.

 

Mount Marty University celebrates Class of 2025 graduates 

Mount Marty University recently celebrated its 2025 undergraduate and graduate students at commencement for both the Watertown and Yankton campuses. The Watertown ceremony was held on Saturday, April 26, while the undergraduate and graduate ceremonies at Cimpl Arena on the Yankton campus were held on Saturday, May 3. 

The ceremonies honored the students who graduated in Fall 2024, Spring 2025 and candidates for August 2025.

Among the May 2025 grads from Brandon are: Linda J. Dubbelde, Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice; Hunter Marso, Bachlor of Arts; Ella K. Ray, Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Austin C. Vigants, Bachelor of Science in Nursing; and from Sioux Falls is Emma T. Jarovski, Bachelor of Arts.

Joshua Pickthorn, of Brandon, is a candidate to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in August.
