Geiver invited to 3-Class Shootout
Brandon Valley senior Madison Geiver will compete with the Class AA Girls Team in the 37th annual 3-Class Shootout Basketball All-Star Game Saturday, March 29 at the McCook Central Auditorium in Salem. All three classes in both boys and girls will be represented by many of the top seniors in South Dakota.
Allan Bertram of Mount Marty will coach the Class AA girls team. Also on the roster are Taaliyah Porter, Rapid City Stevens; Grace Peterson, Sioux Falls Washington; Lennix DuPris, Pierre; Jozie Dana, Spearfish; Logan Smidt, Brookings; Lauren Van Overschelde, Mitchell; Mya Kochuten, Spearfish; and Julia Eggert, Sioux Falls O’Gorman.
The Class AA girls will play the Class A girls at 1 p.m., followed by Class B girls against the winner of the first game at 2:30 p.m.
At 4 p.m., the Class AA and A boys will tip off, followed by a dunk contest and the Class B versus the winner of the first boy’s game at 5:30 p.m.
Splitrock Ladies Bowling League results
Results from the March 18 session of the Splitrock Ladies Bowling League are: High Team Game & Series, Garretson, Ins., 908 & 2,574; High Individual Game, Kathie Franz, 191; High Individual Series, Gail Trudeau, 508.
Marcia Bork picked up the 6-7 split; Jill Reindl picked up the 5-10 split; Marlene Blum picked up the 3-7-10 split; Diane Fueston and Kathy Hegge both picked up the 9-10 split; Kathie Franz picked up the 7-8 split; Gail Trudeau picked up the 3-10 split and also bowled 55 pins over average with a 179; Julaine Walker picked up the 5-7 split; and Bonnie Bruggeman bowled 57 pins over average with a 178.
BV Hall of Fame banquet is Saturday
Four individuals and a boys’ golf team will be inducted into the Brandon Valley Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, March 29. The event is an endeavor of the Brandon Valley Athletic Booster Club.
The inductees are Casey Rasmussen, Class of 1991, Will Castle, Class of 2008, Allison (Koehn) Guthmiller and Chase Marso, both from the Class of 2013, and the 2014 State Championship Boys Golf team coached by Scott Carroll and Todd Geerdes. Members of the team include Alex Hamer, Riley Duncanson, Greg Koehn, Taylor Fjerestad, Carter Erickson and Jackson Dziedzic.
The Hall of Fame will be held at the Holiday Inn Express in Brandon. Social hour begins at 6 p.m., followed by the meal at 7 p.m. and induction program at 7:30.

Brandon’s Brielle Dixon is ‘one to watch’
in women’s ’25 Summit League Outdoor T&F
Brielle Dixon, a hurdler from Brandon, has been pegged as “one to watch” this season. The South Dakota State senior is the 2025 League indoor champion in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.16. She ran a career-best 100-meter hurdles time of 13.60 at the Steve Scott Invitational, and placed second at the 2024 Outdoor Championship in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 45.90.
North Dakota State, the reigning outdoor champions, were picked to win both the men’s and women’s 2025 Summit League Outdoor Track and Field titles in the preseason coaches’ poll released March 19 by League officials.
The Bison men were voted the preseason favorites after receiving 35 total points and five of the seven first-place votes. South Dakota received 28 points for the runner-up spot. South Dakota State, the 2025 Indoor Champion, claimed the remaining two first-place votes and 27 total points to rank third. North Dakota (19), St. Thomas (17), Kansas City (13) and Oral Roberts (8) completed the rankings on the men’s side.
The NDSU women, who won the 2025 indoor title, were picked to sit atop the League after receiving 49 total points and seven of eight first-place votes. North Dakota was selected to finish second with 39 total points. South Dakota collected 37 points and the remaining first-place vote to slot in third place. South Dakota State picked up 35 points for fourth place. St. Thomas (25), Kansas City (18), Omaha (11) and Oral Roberts (10) rounded out the women’s standings.
