BV IceCats’ Squirt teams compete in weekend tournaments
The BV IceCats’ Squirt B and C teams were in action over the weekend.
Squirt B
The Squirt B IceCats went 1-2-1 at the Sioux Center Squirt Showdown.
BV started strong with a win over Luverne, Minn., followed by a tie with Rushmore, Minn. BV’s third game of the weekend against Sioux Center, Iowa, didn’t go as planned, marking their first loss of the season.
BV’s final game was a rematch against Rushmore, with the winner advancing to the championship. The Ice Cats battled hard throughout the game, but ultimately suffered a heartbreaking loss. In the end, the IceCats placed third.
Scoring for BV were Jake Bennett, Kyan Tofteland, Luke Miles, Levi Otterblad, Elliott Storm, Carter Brown, Aiden Neth, Sawyer Quasney, and Keegan Reimer. Assists came from Storm, Bennett, Miles and Brown. Kaden Schenkel showed some impressive defensive skills, while James Woestman was between the pipes with over 50 incredible saves.
Squirt C
It was a successful weekend for BV’s Squirt C crew. These kids showed heart, hustle, and a whole lot of teamwork from start to finish, capping it all off with a dominating 11-2 win on Sunday.
The team’s energy was high, passing was sharp, and the effort was there in every shift.

Splitrock Ladies Bowling League results
The Splitrock Ladies bowled Nov. 11 with the following results: High Team Game, Steve’s Electric, 875; High Team Series, Rock River Ag, LLC, 2,511; High Individual Game, Cheryl Scholl, 180; High Individual Series, Marcia Bork, 454.
Kathie Franz and Brenda Jones picked up the 3-10 split; Marie Cissell picked up the 4-5 split; Barb Caffrey picked up the 9-10 split; Pat Paulsen picked up the 2-7 split. Ann Behrend had one turkey.
SDHS State Volleyball Championships
The Summit Arena at The Monument in Rapid City is the site for the state combined volleyball tournament. The competition begins Thursday. There will be two sessions on Friday at 11 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (MT). Saturday’s award session begins at 11 a.m. with the 7th and 8th and 5th & 6th-place matches being played. The 3rd & 4th-place matches will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday followed by all three (“B”, “A” and “AA”) championship matches at 6:45 p.m. (MT).
Adult tickets are $15 each and students are $10. Ticket packages are $50 for adults and $30 for students.
