Class A Sr., Jr. Legion state baseball tournaments on horizon

The 2024 Class “A” Senior, American Legion Baseball State Championship Tournament will be held at Bob Sheldon Field in Brookings starting July 30 and will be played through Aug. 3.

The Class “A” Junior American Legion Baseball State Championship Tournament will be played at Hyde Stadium in Pierre Aug 1-4.

The “A” Senior state tournament play will be seeded based on results of 2 out of 3 playoff play. All games played are seven innings, unless stopped by the 10-run rule after 4 1⁄2 innings. 

The “A” Junior State Tournament will be played in two pools Thursday through Saturday. The top two teams from each pool then will be cross-bracketed for a single elimination tournament on Sunday. All tournament games are seven innings, unless stopped by the 10-run rule. 

The South Dakota State Championship senior team will advance to the National Central Plains Regional American Legion Baseball Tournament in West Fargo, N.D., Aug. 7-11.

The American Legion team that emerges victorious from the National Central Plains Tournament in West Fargo, will be eligible to represent Region 6 in the National American Legion Baseball World Series in Shelby, N.C. Aug. 15-20.
