Meghan Walker was a standout in the sprint races as a Brandon Valley Lynx, and graduated from BVHS in 2022.

Former Brandon Valley track and field state champion Meghan Walker garnered some national headlines last week, and there’s likely more to come.

The 2022 Brandon Valley High grad competed collegiately at Nebraska and last season finished first in the 600m at the Husker Holiday Open Indoor event in a time of 1:35.12. In the Outdoor season, Walker contributed to a sixth-place finish in the sprint medley relay university division, running 3:55.02, good for the fifth fastest time in school history.

As impressive as those Husker marks were, it was an announcement from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) last week that grabbed the biggest headlines.

According to PWInsider Elite, Walker confirmed that she has signed an NXT contract, the developmental brand of the American professional wrestling promotion WWE. NXT serves as a training ground for wrestlers before they move to WWE’s main roster.

Per TotalProSports.com, Walker shared photos of herself and WWE legend Triple H. She wrote, “Gotta learn from the best to be the best.”

Triple H is a professional wrestling promoter and retired wrestler. With WWE, he serves as its chief content officer, head of creative, and is an executive producer.

Walker had already signed an NIL (Next In Line) deal with WWE, making the jump to the ring with the hope of one day being on the headlining roster. According to the WWE website, the “NIL program will provide a clear pathway from college athletics to WWE through collaborative partnerships with college athletes from diverse athletic backgrounds.”

Walker has garnered much social media notoriety where the 21-year-old shares her life both on and off the track. She has more than 150,000 followers on Instagram.

Per Barstoolsports.com, Walker’s path to the WWE included a tryout during SummerSlam week, a key milestone that insiders say helped solidify her full-time contract. Walker’s signing is part of a broader talent push: She is one of three new developmental signees announced by WWE, joining Russian gymnast Jessica Bognadov and former Boise State running back Cyrus Habibi-Likio.

While at Brandon Valley, Walker was part of the 4x200 state championship relay team in 2022. Her teammates on that first-place team included Elaina Rice, Katie Wentzy, and Madison Pederson.

Also at the state meet during her senior year in 2022, she finished second in the 200, fourth in the 100 and fourth in the 400 in the Class AA open events.

As a junior in 2021, Walker won the 400-meter dash in a time of 56.08 seconds.
