Avera is coming to the corner of Splitrock and Aspen boulevards, though no one knows when – just yet.
Alliance Communications sold the corner property to Avera earlier this month, Alliance general manager Ross Petrick confirmed.
Alliance is currently building a plaza on the busy intersection property, which will consist of the new Brandon Post Office, a new space for Alliance’s Brandon office and yet-to-be-named tenants.
Jay Gravholt, a spokesman for Avera, said the medical service doesn’t know yet what it will do with the land.
“Avera purchased 3.39 acres at the intersection of Aspen and Splitrock. There are no current plans for that property, but we are positioned for future growth,” Gravholt said. “We’re very proud of the presence we’ve had in Brandon many years.”
That presence currently consists of two facilities – Avera Therapy, in the Sunshine plaza on Splitrock Boulevard, and Avera Medical Group McGreevy along Holly Boulevard.
The McGreevy clinic has been in Brandon since 1984.
Alliance Communications will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at noon today (July 31) at the new plaza site, Petrick said.
The new Brandon Post Office is set to open just after Labor Day, according to Brandon Postmaster Kelley Lehfeldt.
Alliance Communications will relocate from its current spot in the Sunshine plaza.
VanBuskirk Companies is managing construction and the development of the plaza.
