It was a middle of the pack finish for the Lynx boys on back-to-back days last week, as Brandon Valley battled for both the ESD and Metro conference crowns.
Brutal winds didn’t deter Mitch Gusso’s golf game, as the Lynx freshman led his team in a dual victory at Yankton’s Fox Run Golf Course on Sept. 19. Gusso opened with a 35 and closed out the back nine with a 43 for the 78-medalist honor.
The Lynx continued where they left off last week by defeating Harrisburg and Yankton at Spring Creek Sept. 5. BV tallied six shots less than second-place Harrisburg, 322-328. Yankton came in at 339.
Victory was in the cards for the Lynx boys’ golfers on Aug. 29. The team bested Sioux Falls Lincoln by two strokes, 145-147, and were 12 better than O’Gorman’s 157, to win the triangular played at Elmwood Golf Course.
Brandon boys’ golf coach Scott Carroll says it’s time for the Lynx to return to the awards stand, and he believes this year’s squad has the potential to get there.
Brandon Valley placed in the middle of the pack in their season opener, the two-day Warrior-Lynx Invite. Day one of the tournament was played at Willow Run, and the 15-team tournament moved to the Brandon Golf Course for day two.
