William Brockmueller, 26

Funeral services for William Carl Brockmueller, 26, of Boulder, Colo., and formerly of Brandon, were held Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018, at the Salem Mennonite Church, rural Freeman.
Bill departed this earth to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018 in Boulder. He was attending the University of Colorado where he was pursuing his PhD in Physics.
He died from injuries suffered in a skiing accident at a ski resort near Boulder.
Bill was born Jan. 10, 1992 to Joe and Betty Brockmueller in Sioux Falls. His first years were spent growing up on a farm near Freeman with twin brother Bobby, and sister Michon. His family moved to Yuma, Colo., in 1998, where Bill attended elementary school for three years. In 2002 his family moved back to the area, and have since resided in Brandon.
After graduating high school at Brandon Valley, Bill joined his twin brother at the University of Sioux Falls to run track and cross-country for five years. He majored in Applied Math and Computer Science, with minors in Accounting and Philosophy. He next earned his Master’s Degree in Physics at Brown University in Rhode Island. He recently began the PhD program at CU in Boulder, and nearly completed his first semester.
Bill gave his life to Christ at an early age, while attending Swan Lake Christian Camp. He spent parts of many summers there as a camper, counselor, and staff member. He was baptized upon his confession of faith by S. Roy Kaufman at SLCC, and became a member of the Salem Mennonite Church.
While attending college, Bill was passionately involved in organizations such as FCA and Graduate Christian Fellowship. He served on the SIMBA Ministries board, and participated in two mission trips to Kenya through the organization. While in Kenya, Bill taught math at a school and lead the construction project of a running track, where young students for many years will have a place to train and compete.
Friends knew Bill as an accomplished runner. He found much joy in challenging himself and encouraging others in the athletics he participated in. Bill’s academic passion was for mathematics and physics. He had awe and wonder for the mysteries of God’s creation. He used his academic knowledge to attempt to understand as much as he could about how God’s amazing creation functions, especially at the sub-particle level.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents; twin brother, Robert; sister, Michon (brother in-law, Cody) and their children, Aubri, Cody Jr. and Jace; girlfriend, Elizabeth Davis; grandparents, Dale and Olive Lehfeldt, and Shirley Brockmueller; extended family and many friends.
Welcoming Bill in heaven is his grandfather, Gordon Brockmueller.
Undesignated memorials will be directed to one of the Christian service organizations that William held dear to his heart.
Walter Funeral Home, Freeman, was in charge of arrangements.
