Brandon Valley High School went under lockdown Tuesday morning after a student was found to be in possession of a weapon.
According to Supt. Dr. Jarod Larson, law enforcement was contacted, and the lockdown ended prior to 10 a.m.
“The weapon was confiscated and individual taken into custody. The situation has been deemed an isolated incident with no direct threat of harm,” Larson said in a message to BVSD parents through the district’s SchoolReach notification system.
The school followed the lockdown safety plan and protocols, he said.
“The safety of our students and staff is the primary concern of the Brandon Valley School District. We appreciate the timely and cooperative efforts of our law enforcement as we work to ensure student safety,” Larson said.
No other information is known at this point.
