Volga woman dies in two-vehicle crash

A Volga woman has been identified as the person who died Friday night in a two-vehicle crash west of Flandreau. 
 
According to a South Dakota Highway Patrol media report, a 2017 Ford F-150 pickup, driven by Jeffrey Eitreim, 63, of Brandon, was northbound on 474th Ave. when the driver failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of 474th Ave. and South Dakota Hwy. 32. The Eitreim vehicle collided in the intersection with a 2018 Ford F-150 pickup traveling eastbound on South Dakota Hwy. 32.
 
Five people were in the 2018 Ford F-150 pickup. Candice Peterson, a 39-year-old passenger, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
The driver, Scott Schade, 48, and a 15-year-old female passenger, suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and were transported to a Sioux Falls hospital. A 39-year-old male passenger suffered minor injuries and was not transported. A 10-year-old male passenger was not injured. All are from Volga.
 
Eitreim sustained life-threatening injuries and was initially transported by ambulance to the Flandreau hospital and then airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital
 
All six people involved were wearing seat belts. 
 
South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
