Vining, Mingo named SDGA champs

Tom Vining and Megan Mingo on Sunday were crowned champions of their respective SDGA State Amateur Golf Tournaments, which were played at the Brandon Golf Course. While the weather was ideal for golf on Friday and Saturday, Sunday’s rain presented challenges.

But the rain didn’t dampen Vining’s game. Vining fired a five under par 66 to win the men’s championship by two strokes over defending champion Aron Lickteig. Vining last won the title in 2015.

Mingo scored her second consecutive title by carding a 74 on Sunday, the final day of the three-day event.

Flight winners in the men’s division included Max Donohoe (first flight), Derek Dillon (second flight), Bryan Schulte (third flight), and Austin Swenson (fourth flight).

In the women’s division, Samantha Langford was the winner of the first flight.
