Valley Springs residents and business owners will be changing out water meters in the coming year.
The board of commission approved Oct. 10 Resolution 2017-5 to replace water meters throughout the city. According to mayor Carl Moss, the $93,780 project will be put out for bids later this year.
Moss said 300 to 400 meters will be replaced with more accurate units. Once the new meters are installed, which is slated for 2018, water customers may see a slight increase - $2 to $6, on average - on their quarterly statements, Moss said.
The city will secure revenue bonds and fund the water improvements through the National Rural Water Association Revolving Loaxn Fund.
The board of commission also approved a petition to annex in BJM Enterprises property. The city has completed connection of water and sewer lines to that property, Moss said, which involved running pipes under Hwy. 103.
The board of commission will hold its next meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at City hall.
