Staff report
The F650 truck that crashed through the south wall of a two-story building in Corson Aug. 26 was pulled from the wreckage on Oct. 2.
After crashing through the wall of the early 1900s building, the truck, driven by Steven Marty, 53, of Big Timber, Mont., fell through to the basement where it remained until last week.
Marty, a field mechanic for Border States Paving, of Fargo, N.D., which owns the truck, miraculously sustained a mere scratch from the accident. He and his wife were on hand last week as the truck was retrieved from the structurally-unstable building.
Marty, who was traveling north on Highway 11 shortly after 7 a.m. on Aug. 26, said he blacked out after choking on coffee he was drinking and was unable to catch his breath. He had been dealing with bronchitis, his wife said.
Troy Novak owns the early 1900s building that housed That Monkey Salon Studio operated by Christi Schwebach. All of the contents of her salon and art studio were destroyed, she confirmed.
Because of the structural damage to the building, Novak said it will be torn down. At this time, his future plans for the property at 25995 482nd Ave. are unknown.
