Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday at 2 a.m.
Remember to turn your clocks back one hour this Saturday, as Daylight Saving Time comes to an end at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 7.
Feather Party at
Brandon VFW
Three Rivers VFW Post 4726 will host their annual Feather Party on Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Post home, and the public is invited. A traditional turkey dinner will be served from 5-6:30 p.m. for a free will donation ($8 is the suggested donation) and games, such as Bingo, cards, etc. will begin at 7 p.m. There will also be raffles for turkeys and hams.
City sponsoring free leaf drop-off days
The City of Brandon is sponsoring the second of three free leaf drop-off days on Saturday, Nov. 6. Residents may bring bags/cans of leaves and leaf mulch to the McHardy Park parking lot (note change of location) from 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. and dump them into receptacles furnished by Marv’s Sanitary Service. Only leaves and mulch will be accepted and leaves must be in cans or bags. No branches, loose leaves or tarps will be accepted.
The final free leaf day is Saturday, Nov. 20.
BE, RBE plan Nov. 10 Veterans Day programs
Community members, military service members and veterans are invited to attend Veterans Day programs at two Brandon Valley elementary schools on Wednesday, Nov. 10.
The program at Robert Bennis Elementary will begin at 9 a.m. in the gym.
The Brandon Elementary program is set for 1 p.m.
The first two rows of seating will be reserved for veterans/service members and their families.
VS Legion plans
Veterans Day program
Veterans Day will be recognized with a dinner and program planned by the the Charles R. Doman American Legion Post 131 on Thursday, Nov. 11. A catered meal will be served at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 7 p.m. Cost for the meal is $10 per person and $9 for those 9 years old and younger.
Brigadier General (Ret). Timothy A. Glynn will be the guest speaker.
Veteran’s Day Chili Cook-Off
It’s time to put your best chili recipe to the test by entering it into the 3rd annual Veteran’s Day Chili Cook-Off on Friday, Nov. 12 at the Brandon VFW. Everyone is welcome to enter the cook off.
Tthe public will be called on to taste test the entries and vote for their favorite. The Auxiliary will also provide cinnamon rolls.
