Veteran’s Day Chili Cook-Off

It’s time to put your best chili recipe to the test by entering it into the third annual Veteran’s Day Chili Cook-Off on Friday, Nov. 12 at the Brandon VFW. Everyone is welcome to enter the cook off. 

The public is invited to taste all of the chili entries to vote for their favorite.

 

BV Hoopsgiving

Basketball Classic

The first Brandon Valley Hoopsgiving Basketball Classic will be played beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20 in Brandon. The tournament is for boys and girls in grades 3-8 and each team will be guaranteed to play three games. Proceeds raised from the tournament, formerly the Hardwood Challenge, will go to BV boys’ and girls’ basketball programs. Teams can register at https://tourneymachine.com/E95964

Nominations sought for BV Hall of Fame

Nominations for 2022 induction into the Brandon Valley Athletic Hall of Fame are being accepted through Dec. 20. Nomination forms may be downloaded from the BVHS website under the Booster Club tab, email Bob Logan at lynxlogan@gmail.com or call (605) 261-1308 or Bill Freking at bill.freking@k12.sd.us.

The 2022 Hall of Fame Banquet is set for Saturday, March 26 at Holiday Inn Express in Brandon.

 

Feather Party in Valley Springs

Charles R. Doman American Legion Post 131 and the Legion Auxiliary invite the public to their annual Feather Party on Saturday, Nov. 20. The party kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with the Auxiliary serving food and proceeds will be matched by Thrivent. Bingo for turkeys will start at 6:30 p.m. The event will also offer a game of chance room with a cash bar. 

 

Bingo at the Brandon VFW

Brandon VFW Post 4726 will host their monthly Bingo night from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov 20. 

 

November needs

at the BAFP

November needs at the Brandon Area Food Pantry are pancake mix and syrup, hot cocoa (6-8 serving packages), beef stew, Spam, chocolate chips, cookies mixes, Banquet Complete Meals.

In respect to COVID-19, Pantry clients must be vaccinated and wear a mask to shop the Pantry. If not vaccinated, clients will receive items that have been pre-bagged by BAFP volunteers.
