Brandon ALA plans poker tourney
Brandon American Legion Auxiliary #318 will host a Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament at 1 p.m. Saturday Feb. 10, at the Brandon VFW. Registration starts at 12:30 p.m. Complimentary sandwiches and snacks will be provided, and the prize pot is 50 percent of the funds raised. Proceeds from the tournament will help fund Brandon Valley High School students who will attend Girls’ State this spring.
 
Bethany Meadows Soup & Chili Contest
Bethany Meadows will host their annual soup and chili contest from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, March 10. All proceeds from the event benefit Brandon, Valley Springs, Garretson and Splitrock volunteer fire departments.

Valentines for Veterans Concert
John Michael Montgomery will perform for the 6th annual Sioux Falls VA Valentines for Veterans Concert at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Washington Pavilion. All Veterans will again be able to receive complimentary tickets for the show, at Voluntary Service by calling (605) 333-6851. There will also be a benefits fair preceding the concert from 1-2:45 p.m.
 
BAFP’s February needs
The Brandon Area Food Pantry needs for February are pancake mix, syrup, ketchup and mustard, juice and Styrofoam plates.
Before donating food items, please check expiration dates. Monetary donations are also appreciated.
The BAFP is open 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 406 Main Ave. To learn more, call 605-582-7001.
 
Open skate offered by BVHA
Brandon Valley Hockey Association has designated open-skate times on the refrigerated ice rink.
The weekly public skate schedule is available at brandonvalleyhockey.com. Times and dates may change without much notice due to weather or games. Rules apply to all skaters and can be found on the website. For questions, email brandonvalleyhockey@gmailcom.
