Brandon City Council candidate forums
Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce and the Brandon Valley Journal are teaming up to host a forum for Ward 1 and 3 candidates seeking election to the Brandon City Council. The forum begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 8 in the Council Chambers next to City Hall. Written questions for the candidates may be submitted prior to the forum by emailing editor@bvjournal.info or kim@brandonvalleychamber.com. Written questions will also be accepted at the forum.
The municipal election is April 10.
 
Advertise in Brandon’s 2018 Visitor’s Guide
Businesses and organizations interested in advertising in the 2018 Brandon Visitor’s Guide should contact Brandon Valley Media Group (BV Journal/Trader) by calling 605-582-9999 or emailing editor@bvjournal.info. The deadline to reserve advertising space for this 10,000-copy publication is March 31.
Advertisers should note that the Chamber has elected to work with BVMG on the 2018 Visitor’s Guide.
 
Audition for MCAP’s spring show
Auditions for the Mighty Corson Art Players’ spring show, the American classic, “The Glass Menagerie” by Tennessee Williams, will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15 and 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Corson Theatre. There are parts for two females and two males, and no preparation is required.

Military History Night this Sunday
Charles R. Doman American Legion Post 131 in Valley Springs will host is monthly Military History Night at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18. This month’s topic is the Civil War: General Grant and General Lee.
The event is free and open to the public.
