Lake Alvin re-opened for swimming

Lake Alvin, located outside of Harrisburg has re-opened for swimming.

The lake was closed to swimming, but new beach water samples taken last week show a healthy level of bacteria in the water.

The beach is currently open and ready for swimming and other recreation.

Valley Springs pet vaccination clinic set

The city of Valley Springs has scheduled their annual pet vaccination clinic from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 9 at the City Maintenance Shop, 308 Broadway.

Vaccinations will be provided by Rock Veterinary Clinic.

In addition to vaccinations, city pet licenses may be purchased at this time

 

McHardy Movie Night

Starting at dusk this Saturday, McHardy Movie Night will show the Secret Life of Pets 2 on an inflatable screen under the stars.

Movie Nights are a joint venture of the City of Brandon, Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce and sponsoring businesses. The July 11 movie is sponsored by Hegg Realtors-Harry Buck Team and the Brandon Valley Journal.

VS Booster Days pared down

A pared down Booster Days celebration in Valley Springs kicks off at dusk Friday with the free fireworks show at Legion Community Park. There will be no concessions and attendees are encouraged to watch the fireworks from their vehicles.

The parade steps off at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 11.
