Baby supply drive for Maassen family

Baby supply donations for Brooke and Joel Maassen of Brandon will be accepted at Brandon Valley Assembly of God through Dec. 1.
The Maassens are expecting, and their daughter, Kaley, 9, suffers from cancer. The family is registered at babylist.com. 

Donations may be made at the church office Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Wednesdays, 7-8 p.m.; and Sundays, 9-10:15 a.m., 10:45 a.m.-12 p.m.

 

Last leaf drop-off day

Brandon’s final leaf drop-off is 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18. Residents may bring leaves and leaf mulch to the Sunshine Foods parking lot. Only leaves and mulch will be accepted.

 

VS feather party

Charles R. Doman American Legion Post 131 in Valley Springs will host its annual feather party at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the post home. The Legion Auxiliary will sell concessions. Bingo and other games of chance will be played.

 

Documentary screening  

The public is invited to watch A Place at the Table, a documentary film on hunger in America, from 5-6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at Brandon Lutheran Church, 600 E. Holly Blvd. All ages are welcome. Donations for the Brandon Area Food Pantry will be accepted. 

 

Dinner theatre 

The Jesse James Players of Garretson are staging a holiday mystery dinner theatre, “The Golden Girls,” at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8 and 9, at the American Legion in Garretson. Friday is a spaghetti dinner and dessert for $20; a grilled steak dinner and dessert are paired with Saturday’s show for $30.

Veterans Day dinner 

Charles R. Doman American Legion Post 131 in Valley Springs will host its annual Veterans Day dinner and program at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10. Tony’s Catering will serve a catered roast beef dinner at a cost of $10 per person. The guest speaker is Pastor Craig Werling.
