Baby supply drive
for Maassen family
Donations for the Brooke and Joel Maassen family may be dropped off at Brandon Valley Assembly of God, 201 S. Sioux Blvd., now through Dec. 1.
The Brandon couple have three children. When Kaley, 9, was diagnosed with Large B Cell Lymphoma cancer, the Maasssens also learned they’re expecting a baby. 
An online registry is at babylist.com under Brooke and Joel Maassen. Donations for the Baby Supply Drive may be dropped off through Dec. 1 at BVAG Church during office hours: Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.; Wednesdays, 7-8 p.m.; and Sundays, 9-10:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.-12 noon.
 
Leaf drop-off days
Brandon’s next annual leaf drop-off days are Saturday, Nov. 4 and 18. From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Brandon residents can bring leaves and leaf mulch to the Sunshine Foods parking lot. Marv’s Sanitary Service will have Dumpsters onsite to discard the leaves in. Only leaves and mulch will be accepted; no branches please.
 
Tonic Sol-fa at Bethany Foundation Dinner
Bethany Lutheran Foundation’s annual dinner with silent and live auctions is Sunday, Nov. 5, at the Holiday Inn Express in Brandon.
The silent auction is 4-6 p.m.; dinner, 6 p.m.; live auction, 6:45 p.m.; and evening entertainment by Tonic Sol-fa, 7:30 p.m.

Post 131 Veterans Day dinner is Nov. 10
Charles R. Doman American Legion Post 131 in Valley Springs will host its annual Veterans Day dinner and program at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10. The catered dinner is $10 per person. The guest speaker is Pastor Craig Werling. 
 
Valley Springs Legion Feather Party
Post 131’s annual feather party is set for 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the post home.
Concessions will be sold by the Legion Auxiliary. Bingo and other games of chance will be played.
