Sassy Nails & Spa celebrates first year
Sassy Nails & Spa, 511 N. Splitrock Blvd., will celebrate their first-year anniversary with a Brandon Valley Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting from 4:30-6 p.m. Friday, May 3. 
 
BAFP’s May needs
The needs for May are assorted laundry detergent, pizza sauce, bagged pastas, peanut butter, Suddenly Salad and salt and pepper shaker sets.
Before donating food items, please check expiration dates and that cans are not bulging from age and/or freezing. Monetary donations are also appreciated.
The BAFP is also accepting used eye glasses and hearing aids on behalf of the Brandon Lions Club.
The BAFP is open 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 406 Main Ave. To learn more, call 605-582-7001.
 
Fundraiser for Katie Jurgensen
Friends and co-workers have organized a fundraiser for Katie Jurgensen, a special education teacher at Brandon Valley High School  recently diagnosed with cancer, from 7 p.m. to midnight Friday, May 3 at Bottoms Up, 25988 482nd Ave., Corson. Cost is $10 per person.
 
BVHS Band Turkey Supper
Brandon Valley Band Parents have scheduled the 55th annual BV Band Turkey Supper from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, May 4 in the BVHS Commons. Turkey and pork supper will be served during the same time an ongoing pops concert will be performed in the Performing Arts Center.
Tickets are $11 each for adults in advance or $12 at the door. Children (ages 3-10) are $7 in advance or $8 at the door. Children under 2 are free.
 
Valley Springs Legion Soup Supper
Valley Springs American Legion will serve up their final soup supper fundraiser for the season from 5-6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4. The menu includes the Legion’s famous chili, bean soup, Mindy’s broccoli cheese soup and more.
