Men’s Bible Study starting at Brandon Lutheran

A Men’s Bible Study is starting up on Tuesdays at 6:30 a.m. at Brandon Lutheran Church, and the first is Tuesday, Nov. 6. Refreshments will be served and the Bible Study will be led by Jim Heinitz. All men are welcome. 

 

Chili cook-off at the VFW this Friday

Join in the fun of a Chili Cook-Off at Brandon’s Three Rivers VFW Post 4726 on Friday, Nov. 9. Serving starts at 6 p.m. Entries are encouraged and there is no cost to enter or to eat.

 

Valley Springs’ Veterans Day program

Charles R. Doman American Legion Post 131 will host its annual Veterans’ Day dinner and program on Monday, Nov. 12. Dinner starts at 6 p.m. with the program to follow. This year’s guest speaker is Sabin Billings, who served on active duty in the U.S. Navy aboard a nuclear submarine. 

 

BVHS winter sports meeting set

A winter sports informational meeting for student-athletes, parents and coaches is planned for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12 at Brandon Valley High School. Winter sports include boys’ and girls’ basketball and bowling, wrestling and sideline cheer.

The first day of practice for wrestling is Nov. 12; boys and girls basketball starts Nov. 26.

Feather Party in Valley Springs

Charles R. Doman American Legion Post 131 and the Legion Auxiliary invite the public to their annual Feather Party on Saturday, Nov. 17. The party kicks off at 6 p.m. with the Auxiliary serving food. Bingo for turkeys will be played from 6:30-10 p.m. The event will also offer a game of chance room with a cash bar. Meat bundles will be available for raffle and tickets for the Henry Golden Boy 22 rifle will be sold up to the 9:30 p.m. drawing.

Funds from the event will support the Legion’s building insurance costs for 2019.
