Valley Springs Fire Dept. Fundraiser
The Valley Springs Fire Department will host a pork supper fundraiser from 5:30-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 at the fire station.
Brandon Community Foundation Grants
Brandon Community Foundation grant applications are being accepted through 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28. Recipients must be a Brandon or Valley Springs charity. Forms may be downloaded from the BCF website, brandoncf.org and completed applications should be mailed to Brandon Area Community Fund – Chair, P.O. Box 816, Brandon, SD 57005.
The grant awards will be presented at the BCF’s annual Oak & Vine on Friday, Oct. 26.
Military History programs return
Military History programs return this month, which are presented by the Charles R. Doman American Legion Post 131. Programs are from 6:30-8 p.m. on Sunday evenings and are free and open to the public. Refreshments are also served.
The first program of the 2018-19 season is Sunday, Sept. 16 and the topic is World War II Naval Warfare.
Food Truck Wednesday
Brandon Lutheran Church will host Food Truck Wednesday, starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12. The public is invited.
BV Early Childhood Developmental Screening
Brandon Valley School District will conduct its annual Early Childhood Developmental Screening from 8:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20 at Brandon Elementary, 501 E. Holy Blvd.
Screenings are free for all children from birth to age 5 who live in the BVSD. To register, visit brandonvalley.k12.sd.us/spec_serv or call the Special Services office, 605-582-3446 to schedule an appointment.
