BV Summer Band, Singers to give Aug. 2 concert

Brandon Valley Summer Band and Brandon Valley Summer Singers will present a concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2 at Brandon Valley Middle School.

The Summer Singers and Band are fifth and sixth grade students from Brandon Valley and surrounding districts who have rehearsed three mornings a week for three weeks.

The public is invited to attend.

SVE member picnic in Brandon is Aug. 1

Sioux Valley Energy will host one of its “pop up” picnics from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1 at the SVE Service Center in Brandon. Picnickers are encouraged to bring their own chair/blanket.

Pigskin Classic Golf Tourney deadline nears

Registrations are being accepted for the Pigskin Classic Golf Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 11. The 4-person scramble tees off with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. at the Brandon Golf Course.

The cost is $60 per player (includes golf, cart and lunch). Register by emailing gusso@alliancecom.net or mailing entry form to: Bethany Gusso, 1700 Rushmore Dr., Brandon, SD 57005. Make checks payable to Brandon Valley Booster Club. Registration deadline is Aug. 1.

All proceeds from the tournament go toward promoting Lynx student athletes.

Splitrock Lutheran ice cream social

Splitrock Lutheran Church, 25798 483rd Ave. will host its annual ice cream social from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5.

BAFP August needs

The Brandon Area Food Pantry needs for August are Pop Tarts, large cans of chicken, flour and sugar, Spam, beef stew and deodorant.

Before donating food items, please check the expiration date.
