Post 318 poker tourney
Brandon’s American Legion Auxiliary Post 318 will host a Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Brandon VFW. The event is a fundraiser for the Legion Auxiliary.
 
Family Fun Fest
Enjoy food and old- fashioned games 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, at McHardy Park. Sponsored by Hoover’s Martial Arts, Circuit Fitness and Brandon EDGE, Family Fun Fest is $5 per person or a donation to the Brandon Area Food Pantry.
 
Men in Mission banquet
Brandon Lutheran Church at 600 E. Holly Blvd. will host its sixth annual Men in Mission banquet and silent auction 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1. Tickets are $10 for youth 12 and under and $15 for adults. Email pastordan@brandonlutheran.org or call 605-582-3401. 
 
Red Cross fish fry 
Proceeds from a fish fry from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Brandon VFW will go to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to aid victims of recent hurricanes and wildfires. The menu includes fish, French fries and coleslaw. Free will donations will be accepted ($8 per person suggested).
Event sponsors are the Ed Polzine Cancer Fund, Three Rivers VFW Post 4726 in Brandon, Harry Buck Team at Hegg Realtors and the Brandon Valley Journal.
 
Military History Night
The Battle of the Bulge is the topic of the Sunday, Oct. 15, Military History Night. Hosted by the Charles R. Doman American Legion, the program begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Legion Hall.
 
BAFP’s October needs
The Brandon Area Food Pantry needs are spaghetti sauce, canned carrots, strawberry jam, Pop Tarts, canned frosting, taco sauce, paper or Styrofoam plates. Before donating food, please check expiration dates.
