Current needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are cookies, small jars of peanut butter, jelly, jam, Suddenly Salads, brownie and cake mixes, small bags of flour, shampoo, Kleenex.
For appointments, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Costume Jewelry Swap at Brandon Library this Saturday
There is a Costume Jewelry Swap from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, May 6 at the Brandon Community Library, 305 S. Splitrock Blvd. Participants are asked to bring costume jewelry to swap and enjoy something different to wear. All pieces should be in good condition (no broken pieces).
Saturday is Valley Springs city-wide clean-up day
This year’s city-wide clean-up day in Valley Springs is set for Saturday, May 6. From 8 a.m.-3 p.m., Valley Springs residents may bring items to the City Maintenance Building, 308 Broadway Ave. Items that will not be accepted are tires, chemicals, hazardous wastes, garbage, yard waste, oil products, pesticides, electronics, batteries, paint products, concrete and mattresses.
Citywide rummages in Luverne are May 3-6

Department pancake breakfast is May 7
Splitrock Fire Department will be serving up its annual pancake breakfast from 8 a.m.- 1 p.m., Sunday, May 7 for a free will donation.
Valley Springs water main flushing on tap
Water mains in the city of Valley Springs will be flushed during the week of May 8. Residents may experience reduced water pressure and a short period of water discoloration during flushing and shortly after.
For discolored water, residents should turn on an outside faucet or cold water tap to clear the water line.
Joah’s Ark plans pony party, petting zoo
Joah’s Ark returns to the Brandon area from 1-6 p.m. Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14 at 48258 265th St., Brandon. This is a free event, however, free will donations will be accepted.
Brandon Citywide Sales are May 11-13
The 22nd annual Brandon Citywide Rummages are Thursday-Saturday, Mary 11-13. Register sales at brandonrummages.com by Wednesday May 3. The online list of sales will be available Monday, May 8.
