WELCA Advent Brunch is Dec. 3

Brandon Lutheran Church’s WELCA group will host its annual Advent Brunch from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 at the church. The Hallelujah Hooligans will be the featured entertainment, along with raffles and a Love Gift offering for a local need in the community. Tickets are $8 each and may be purchased by calling Barb Buck at (605) 582-7477.

 

Final leaf drop-off day is Nov. 19

The City of Brandon is sponsoring its 2022 Free Leaf Drop-Off Days on Saturday, Nov. 19.
Bags and cans of leaves and leaf mulch should be brought to the McHardy Park parking lot between 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and dump them into a garbage truck furnished by Marv’s Sanitary Service. Only leaves, mulch, pumpkins, veggies and garden items can be accepted. Leaves must be in cans or bags. No branches, loose leaves or tarps will be accepted. 

 

November needs at Brandon Food Pantry

This month’s needs at the Brandon Food Pantry are cereal, granola bars, instant oatmeal, pancake mix, syrup, mustard, ketchup, relish, mayonnaise, pickles, BBQ sauce, oatmeal, body wash, dish soap, Styrofoam plates (40 count) and dog and cat food.

To make appointments, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

 

Valley Springs Legion Feather Party

is Saturday

Valley Springs America Legion’s annual Feather Party is set for Saturday, Nov. 19. The Auxiliary will serve food ala cart starting at 5 p.m. and Bingo begins at 6 p.m. or when there is enough players. Bingo prizes include a 10-12-pound turkey or four-pound ham. Bingo cards are 25 cents per game.

 

U.S. Navy time is topic of Sunday’s Military History Program 

Roger VanOort will present a program on his experiences with the U.S. Navy time in the Vietnam War at the Sunday, Nov. 20 Military History program. The 6:30 p.m. program will be held at the Charles R. Doman American Legion Post 131 in Valley Springs. 

This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

 

Volunteer drivers needed to deliver meals

Active Generations and the Meals on Wheels program is in need of volunteer drivers to deliver meals in Brandon Monday through Friday.
