Free drinks today at Scooter’s for teachers

Scooter’s Coffee is celebrating teachers with a free drink treat on Wednesday, Sept. 7 during “Scooter’s Coffee Teacher Appreciation Day.” Teachers can receive a free drink of any size when they visit Scooter’s Coffee on Sept. 7.

To enjoy a handcrafted drink of any size, teachers must show their valid school I.D. at Scooter’s Coffee participating locations. The offer is valid one per customer (while supplies last) and is not eligible for order ahead.

 

Homesteader Day

is Sept. 11

The 44th annual Homesteader Day is set for Sunday, Sept. 11. From 1-4 p.m., the sights, sounds and smells of pioneer life from over 100 years ago will be on display at Beaver Creek Nature Area, 48351 264th St., rural Valley Springs. The historical Samuelson cabin will be open for visitors to see and experience. There will also be pioneer agriculture demonstrations, a black smith, civil war soldiers, Dutch oven cooking, rope making, candle dipping, music, and more. The event is free for all ages.

 

VS Legion BBQ

fundraiser is Sept, 24

Charles R. Doman American Legion Post 131 in Valley Springs will host their first BBQ fundraiser of the season from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24. The menu will feature grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, barbeques, chips, coleslaw, fruit salad, calico beans, drinks and condiments. Free will donations will be accepted.

 

Military History Night returns Sept. 18

Military History Night returns to the Charles R. Doman American Legion Post 131 Valley Springs. The first program is set for 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18. Jeremy Risty, history teacher at Brandon Valley High School, will present on the Spanish-American War. As always, these programs are free and open to the public. Refreshments will also be served.

 

BVSD Early Childhood Developmental

Screening is Sept. 22

Brandon Valley School District will conduct its annual Early Childhood Developmental Screening from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 at Brandon Elementary School.

Screenings are free for all children from birth to age 5 who live in the BVSD. South Dakota School for the Deaf will provide free hearing screenings.
