National Day of Prayer

Brandon Valley Assembly of God will host a National Day of Prayer event Thursday, May 3 with prayer time from 6-6:30 p.m., followed by the National Day of Prayer livestream from 6:30-8:30 p.m. 

 

Spring Fling at Ben Clare May 5

Ben Clare United Methodist Women will host their annual Spring Fling from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 5 at the church, 26762 Ben Clare Ave., Valley Springs.

 

Sassy Nails & Spa opens this week

Sassy Nails & Spa will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. Friday, May 4, and a grand opening at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 5.

The business is located in the Brandon Retail Center at 511 N. Splitrock Blvd.

 

BVACC Career Fair is May 8 

The third annual Brandon Valley Area Career Fair is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 8 at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Brandon. Employers are seeking qualified individuals for a variety of jobs. To date, nine local employers will take part in the event.

Document shredding event set for May 12

Celebration United Methodist Church, 500 N. Pasque Flower Trail, is organizing a Document Shredding Event from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, May 12 at the church. For a suggested donation of $5-10 per box, residents can bring boxes of files, tax returns, bank statements and personal documents to be shredded. Staples, paperclips and file folders do not need to be removed. Proceeds from the event will benefit Brandon youth.

 

BAFP May needs

The Brandon Area Food Pantry’s May needs are pancake mix and syrup, grape and strawberry jams/jellies, sloppy joe mix, beef stew, Pop Tarts and fruit snacks. Monetary donations are also appreciated.

Before donating food items, please check expiration dates. The BAFP is also accepting used eye glasses and hearing aids for the Brandon Lions Club.
