Celebration shredding event returns

Celebration United Methodist Church, 500 N. Pasque Flower Trail, Brandon, will once again host a document shredding event from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 7. A donation of $5-10 per box donation is suggested. Staples, paperclips and folders need not be removed.

 

BHS book sale is

Friday and Saturday

The Brandon Historical Society’s spring book sale is this Friday and Saturday at the organization’s storage unit on Cedar Street east of BP/Expressway. There are many new hardcover books and a wide variety of genres. 

 

Pony Party, Petting Zoo in Brandon this weekend

A Pony Party and Petting Zoo makes a return to Brandon this weekend. Joah’s Ark (joahsark.com) will be at 48258 265th St., Brandon, from noon-5 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. The petting zoo includes Mervyn the miniature steer, Norbert, the Alpaca, fainting goats, Nahdia, the llama, mini-horses and a donkey.

The event is free, however, freewill donations will be accepted. Donations will go to the care of the animals.

 

BV school board filing deadline is May 13

The filing period for two openings on the Brandon Valley Board of Education is open through 5 p.m. Friday, May 13. Nominating petitions may be picked up at the Central Office, 300 S. Splitrock Blvd., between the hours of 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Both positions are three-year terms.

If more than two candidates file, an election will be held on Tuesday, June 21.

May needs at the BAFP

May needs at the Brandon Area Food Pantry are single-serving packages of apple sauce, Spam, Suddenly Salad, cookie and muffin mixes, body wash, dish detergent, and dog and cat food..

Pantry clients must be vaccinated and wear a mask to shop the Pantry. If not vaccinated, clients will receive items that have been pre-bagged by BAFP volunteers.

To make appointments, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

BAFP executive director Linda Weber asks groups that conduct food drives to contact the Pantry prior to the event.

Used eye glasses and hearing aids for the Brandon Lions Club may also be dropped off at the BAFP.
