Final VFW Auxiliary bake sale until fall is Friday

Brandon’s VFW Auxiliary’s final bake sale until this fall is from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 8 at the Post Home.

 

Bingo at the VFW, Tailgator’s on April 9

Two community organizations are both hosting a night of bingo on Saturday, April 9. 

Three Rivers VFW Post 4726 is teaming up with the Brandon Valley Hockey Association for games of Bingo from 7-10 p.m. Bingo cards are 25 cents each.

The Brandon Valley Optimist Club will host two sessions of bingo – 4-6 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. – for 10 games of Bingo. The $10 entry fee provides 10 game cards and additional cards are $1 each per round. Reservations may be made online at bvoptimists.org.

 

Boys State applications now being accepted

Brandon Valley High School juniors and seniors are encouraged to apply for the American Legion-hosted Boys State on May 30-June 2 at Northern State University in Aberdeen. Apply online at southdakotaboysstate.com. May 1 is the deadline to apply. 

 

Arise With the Guys is April 23

Arise With the Guys, an annual men’s-only event where professional and collegiate athletes share inspirational messages of faith, Godly values and legacy building, will be offered in Brandon this year. The event begins at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, April 23 at Brandon Valley Assembly of God Church, 201 Sioux Blvd. The event is free and will feature former Super Bowl coach and NFL Hall of Famer Tony Dungy interviewing former Pittsburg Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. There will also be interviews by Brian Hansen and Brandon Valley athletes.

 

April needs at the Brandon Food Pantry

April needs at the Brandon Area Food Pantry are Manwich, Spam, mustard, mayonnaise, muffin and cookie mixes, cake and brownie mixes, microwave popcorn, cereal, and dog and cat food..

At this time, the BAFP has a good supply of canned vegetables (i.e., peas, corn, carrots, all varieties of beans) and soups, both cream and other varieties.

In respect to COVID-19, Pantry clients must be vaccinated and wear a mask to shop the Pantry. If not vaccinated, clients will receive items that have been pre-bagged by BAFP volunteers.

To make appointments for either pickups or donations, call 582-7001. The BAFP is open from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
