Beer and liquor to go are new additions to the feast of offerings on the menu at Tailgators Bar and Grill.
Brandon City Council approved the off-sale license request by owner Dave Halverson Nov. 18. The license now allows off-sale beer, wine and liquor.
“It’s because of the hotels,” Halverson said. “People come in and want to buy beer or liquor to go, so it’s more for the convenience for the people that are here.”
On average, Halverson said he receives requests from customers to buy a six-pack or a bottle at least a couple of times per week.
Tailgators was licensed for off-sale the first two years Halverson owned the bar and restaurant. The license, he said, was connected to holidays (New Year’s, Fourth of July). In 2017, the special sale license was no longer required.
The off-sale licensure also sets up a fundraising opportunity for non-profits. Halverson said a non-profit can invest in a $1,400 pallet of a Budweiser product, which is sold at Tailgator’s, and would stand to profit $600.
