Supe's On: Many play vital role in children's education

American Education Week is Nov. 13-17.
All across America, communities celebrate our country’s education system during American Education Week. The process of educating our youth takes many individuals, serving in a wide variety of roles. Each of those roles play a critical part in our ability to educate our students. To all the individuals working within the Brandon Valley School District and all the other schools across the country – Thank You. You make educating our children possible.
Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the fall BVHS theater performance of James and the Giant Peach. It was a true delight. The British children’s novel was one of my favorites as a young reader. I was curious as to how the cast and crew were going to pull off having a giant peach float across the ocean and eventually take flight, but they did so splendidly. Congratulations on a wonderful production to the cast, crew, and directors.
With fall activities coming to a close, I want to extend a special congratulations and job well done to all of our fall activity participants, coaches, and directors. Overall, we had a very successful fall activity season. As the winter activity season approaches, I would encourage all patrons to attend student activities and support our children in a positive and sportsmanlike manner. The modeling of positive and appropriate behavior by adults while attending activities is important for our students’ development.
There will be no school in the Brandon Valley School District for Thanksgiving break Nov. 22-24.
Go, Lynx!
