Senior Spotlight: Rachel DeSmet

A trip abroad and her junior prom are two memories this 2019 Brandon Valley High School senior will take away from high school.
“Setting up for the junior prom with all of the teachers during the blizzard and going to Europe last summer with my classmates,” enlightens Rachel Desmet, are those moments.
Rachel has collected an assortment memories en route to her 2nd-degree Black Belt status. She got her start in martial arts in the fifth grade and has been teaching the art throughout high school at Circuit Martial Arts and Fitness. She’s also been cruising down the hills atop a snowboard since the fifth grade.
At BVHS, Rachel has been involved with the Marching Lynx, the wind ensemble band, and has been in the orchestra pit for multiple spring musicals. In addition, she’s a member of the National Honor Society.
Rachel plans to attend the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. Undecided on her major, her interests lie in forensic science or engineering.
Her favorite school lunch is popcorn chicken. She’s partial to the color maroon, Grey’s Anatomy, and the band Panic! At the Disco.
She is the daughter of Joan DeSmet.
