Senior Spotlight: Kate Lundberg

Kate Lundberg
There’s a memory from high school that Kate Lundberg will long remember: winning a Metro Conference championship in tennis in singles.
“It was very difficult, and I had to come back a long way to win it,” says the daughter of Paul and Sandi Lundberg. “However, the greatest part was the encouragement from my coaches, team, and family. I will never forget my teammates and coaches rushing to congratulate me. Ending my senior year with that image of support is something I will be forever grateful for.”
In addition to tennis, Kate has been involved in Serve and Learn Student Association (SALSA), a community service group, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta. She’s also shared her knowledge as a tutor at Brandon Valley Intermediate School the past three years.
Outside the walls of BVHS, Kate has been involved with the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, The Congressional Award, performed an internship in Congressman Dusty Johnson’s office, and served as a United States Senate Page in Washington, D.C.
And that’s where her career interests lie.
“I am still undecided on which college I will be attending, but I have narrowed it down to two colleges in the Washington D.C. area,” Kate shares. “I will be studying International Affairs and National Security in hopes to obtain a diplomatic job within the State Department or an Embassy.”
Her choice for a lunch date also has a Washington, D.C., tie: Jenna Bush Hager.
“The way she progressed from a Governor’s daughter, to the First Daughter, and then to a news anchor has been an inspiration for me to reach my own goals. Even though she grew up in the public eye, she created an extraordinary life with her own hard work and maintained a strong relationship with her family,” she said.
Kate lists her favorite color as blue, the TV show Friends, movie The Post, and country music.
