Scouring through retirement one nut, bolt at a time

OMG – what just happened? Retirement? The Absent Uncle just found himself sorting screws and nails. Over the years, I have successfully gathered a significant amount of screws, nails, electric and other connectors, plus so many more once-in-a-lifetime needed items. So here I find myself in retirement, thinking that I need to finally sort, make an easy task of finding any widget, and forever become being the ultimate handyman of the home. To do so, I have resourced so many items to assist me in this quest. I have become the ultimate recycler and saver of plastic containers. Cheese – dip – and other items thinking that the clear rectangular shape makes more sense as the previous saved containers were round and not always clear! Certainly, we can store more by eliminating the round containers (a previous recyclable common purchase).  But why? Do we really need more than a lifetime supply of electrical connectors (butt connectors, spades, rings, in three different colors/wire sizes)? Just in case?   It is a new question. With that epiphany, I came to an interesting conclusion today. I will never need the mass of connectors, screws, bolts and nails that have been purchased over the years, maybe one or two of each depending on the circumstance; however, after proper reflection, I am confident that I am ready to go forward with an inventory, on hand that will meet any need, eliminate any trip to the hardware store, and finish all projects. Maybe. I need to go to Home Depot on Monday. I need some stuff.
