Rowena robbery stopped

Deng Deng Jiel Jr. has been charged with first-degree attempted robbery following a foiled attempt to rob a Rowena business about 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3.
According to a news release from the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, Jiel allegedly tried to rob the business. However, people inside the business stopped him and detained him until law enforcement arrived, at which time he was turned over to authorities.
South Dakota Highway 11 was shut down for a period of time Saturday.
No one was injured, the release said.
