Responsibility, the Lynx Way

Students and staff at Brandon Valley Intermediate School teamed up to be responsible citizens of the community during Lynx Way Day on Oct. 19. Students started their day of responsibility with various homeroom activities. They also performed good deeds in the community, including picking up trash at Pioneer, Aspen and McHardy parks, The Bluffs neighborhood park, Brandon Valley Middle School and along the railroad train tracks. Students also decorated trash cans with hand-painted artwork and constructed 11 buddy benches with assistance from staff, high school advanced woodshop students and Marcus Ames from Brandon Lumber Company. The local lumberyard and BVIS Student Council donated supplies and funded the Buddy benches endeavor. In the afternoon, students cashed in positive behavior tickets to compete in kickball and spike ball tournaments, play games and watch movies. “In the morning, we’re giving back to the community, and we’re having fun in the afternoon,” said BVIS principal Nick Skibsted.
