Mother Nature condensed the two-day BV Team Tennis Invite into a single dual for the Lady Lynx, who came up short in the 5-4 loss to Harrisburg.

In between light rain showers on Saturday, the Lady Lynx faced a tough, young Harrisburg Tigers team. BV head coach Adam Rothenberger anticipated the match would go down to the wire, and it did.

“Harrisburg is really good at the bottom of their lineup with their Nos. 5 and 6 singles and No. 3 doubles,” he said. “We, unfortunately fell short for the win with No. 1 doubles struggling to stay consistent.”

BV’s four victories came in flights 1, 3 and 4 singles, flight 2 doubles.

“Bella (Schultz), Addy (Jackson) and Marie (Pelletier) played great in singles to give us a shot at winning the dual,” Rothenberger said.

Schultz disposed of Emma Rangel by a 10-4 margin, while Jackson capitalized on opportunities to defeat Emily Hanson 10-3. And Pelletier delivered a 10-6 blow to Maddie Grabow.

BV’s flight 2 doubles team of Michaela Jerke and Pelletier overcame Maddie Eisenbeisz and Eloise Geraets 8-5.

Following Monday’s road dual against No. 1-ranked Sioux Falls Lincoln, the Lady Lynx have a break in competition until Monday, when they host Madison at 11 a.m. and Yankton at 4 p.m.
