A double by Matt Brown in the top of the fifth inning on July 13 couldn’t have come at a better time for Post 131. With his team trailing 7-9, Brown sent the ball to deep left, resulting in three runs to help Brandon Valley register the 14-10 victory over Sioux Falls Post 15.

The Lynx bats were sizzling in the nightcap as well, which ended in a lopsided 21-7 win for the visiting Lynx at Harmodon Park.

Multiple runs in the top of the second, third, fifth and seventh innings was just enough fuel to overcome Sioux Falls in high-scoring affair. The Lynx registered 16 hits, while Post 15 belted out 10 hits.

Post 15 struck first in the bottom of the opening frame. They took advantage of a pair of singles, a walk and a batter hit by the pitch to bring their initial run across the plate. A single, fielder’s choice, and a walk made put Post 15 in charge, 0-5.

BV’s bats heated up in the second and third innings, thanks for doubles by Logan Kelling and Nate Meyers in the second. The third-inning charge was inspired by singles off the bats of Michael Chevalier and Jaxon Haase, a Post 15 error, and singles by Nick Hokenstad, Meyers and Ayden Spicer. Heading into the bottom half of the frame, BV led 6-5.

Post 15 regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Bronson Moet belted a two-run homer over the left field fence to make it a 6-9 game.

Once again, the Lynx answered in the top of the fifth, putting up five runs for the 11-9 lead. A trio of singles, a walk, a batter hit by the pitch and double by Brown put BV back up on top.

Post 15 added a run in the bottom of the sixth and BV went on to preserve the 14-10 victory behind singles by Brown and Spicer, a Post 15 error, and a timely triple by Meyers all added to the winning cause.

Noah Bertsch got the win for Post 131. The ace lasted 2 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and one run, while striking out four. Jack Krohnke threw 3 1.3 innings in relief.

Jack Riley started on the hill for the Lynx.

Isaac Pullen was charged with the loss. In his four innings of work, he allowed nine hits and eight runs, striking out two BV batter. Jake Klopstad got the start for Sioux Falls. He went three innings and allowed six runs on seven hits, striking out one.

For BV, Spicer turned in a 4-for-4 day at the plate and the Lynx were aggressive on the base paths, with three players stealing at least two bases.

Moet had a 3-for-4 day at the plate for Post 15.

Post 131 put up eight runs in the top of the first, thanks to a trio of walks, a batter hit by pitch, singles by Kolbeck and Dawson Skorczewski, Austin Reiter, and a double by Spicer.

In the bottom half of the frame, Post 15 rallied for seven runs to make it a 10-7 game.

The Lynx tacked on three runs in the third and seven in the fourth. The third-inning deluge was the result of walks issued to Spicer, Brown and Haase, and a timely triple by Tyler Schelske.

A series of miscues by Post 15 and four singles and a Schelske double largely put the game on ice for BV.

The Lynx closed out the top of the fifth with a pair of runs, which came courtesy of singles by Brown and Logan Kelling.

Lake Terveer led things off on the hill for BV. The bulldog allowed four hits and six runs over one inning. He struck out one Post 15 batter and walked one.
