Nordstrom’s Automotive will celebrate 50 years of business at a customer appreciation event from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 that includes food prizes and gifts for customers. Nordstrom’s is located at 25513 480th Ave., rural Garretson.
While it is hard to put a finger on the exact date that Art and Marie Nordstrom started farming “cars” on the family dairy farm in rural Garretson, one visit and patrons will see that a lot has changed over five decades.
The first advertising for the business was the “Nordstrom’s Special.” This unique 1951 Ford 8N tractor with a V8 hotrod Ford car engine, was built in 1969 and was part of the landscape at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon for years. The tractor is now enshrined at the family’s recently-completed Professional Automotive Recycling facility, Nordstrom’s 2.0, which was built on the family farm north of Brandon.
The Nordstrom Family Dairy Farm has seen many changes over the years as it has transformed from farm to a repairable vehicle dealer to a multi-purpose nationally-recognized Gold Seal Certified Auto Recycling Facility now selling parts all over the region and world.
The one thing that has not changed, however, is their desire to serve customers.
