Mauretta “Skip” Chepa, 90

Mauretta “Skip” Chepa, the daughter of Warren and Sophie (Nicholson) Sydow, was born Nov. 25, 1929 in Sioux Falls, S.D. She lived in Hartford, S.D., Sioux Falls, rural Dundee, Minn., Lakefield, Minn., and Round Lake, Minn. Skip graduated from Round Lake High School in 1947. She was united in marriage to Robert Chepa on July 29, 1949 at the First Presbyterian Church in Fulda, Minn. After their marriage they lived in Fulda until 1951 when they moved to Worthington, Minn., and she worked for Credit Records. In 1958 they moved to a farm near Kinbrae, Minn. After Robert passed away in July of 1993, Skip moved into Fulda. Skip worked at the Fulda Café and Antonio’s for many years. In 2016 she moved to Sioux Falls to be closer to her family.

Skip passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls at the age of 90.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fulda and the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include her daughter, Dawn; grandchildren, Alison, Carie (Kevin), Tyler (Marissa) and Brendyn (Aurora); seven great-grandchildren (Alex, Nic, Carter, Kaedyn, Lexi, Maysen and Greylin); sons-in-law, Denny Sanow and Brad Buehner; and special person, Deb Buehner.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be at the First Presbyterian Church in Fulda at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 17 with Rev. Tony Toth officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Hill Cemetery, Fulda.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. The Totzke Funeral Home in Fulda is assisting the family with arrangements. Send condolences online at www.totzkefuneralhome.com.
