The Marching Lynx swept its first two contests of the season Saturday. Brandon Valley took first in the Eden Prairie (Minn.) competition, as well as scored top honors in best color guard, best percussion and best drum majors. At the Eastview Competition, the Lynx took first place and best percussion.
The pair of first-place finishes are the first for the band in several years, noted director Chris Borchardt. The weekend’s success came against the 2016 AA State Champions from Minnesota and Wisconsin.
“I’m so proud of the hard week these students are putting into the show. They keep getting better every day and understand that we can always improve and become better versions of ourselves,” Borchardt said.
“The Lynx hope to keep up the hard work and have another strong showing on the 16th when they return to the cities to compete against seven AA bands.”
