Higgins lands food bank internship
Jessica Higgins, Brandon, is one of 11 Morningside College students doing a paid summer internship with a Sioux City area nonprofit agency as part of the Tyson Foods Summer Community Internship Program, a new initiative that supports community organizations through college internships.
Higgins, a senior political science major at Morningside, was selected for an internship with the Food Bank of Siouxland. The agency is the main food supplier for food pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, residential facilities, day care and senior centers in the Sioux City area.
Higgins is a 2015 graduate of Brandon Valley High School.
Tyson Foods Summer Community Internship Program provides full-time college students an eight-week paid summer internship to assist community organizations and gain experience with diverse social issues. Tyson Foods is underwriting the program, which launched this summer in Chicago, Sioux City, Storm Lake and Council Bluffs.
Morningside College also provides interns a stipend and on-campus housing during the summer.
