Jordan Anderson Daniels, a 2006 Brandon Valley graduate, received his Bachelor of Arts from (then) Augustana College, double majoring in biology and mathematics. He was also heavily involved in the music department. After graduating from Augustana, Anderson Daniels entered the graduate program at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. He recently completed his PhD in microbiology and immunology in the laboratory of Christopher Aiken, PhD. His thesis centered on understanding how the pandemic virus HIV-1 interacts with and infects human cells. Anderson Daniels published his major findings in the Journal of Virology.
In November, he started a post-doctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the laboratory of Mark Denison, M.D., where he will study the evolutionary constraints of corona viruses, which are pathogens responsible for SARS, MERS and common cold.
Anderson Daniels lives with his wife, Sarah, a pediatric occupational therapist, and their golden retriever, Penny, in Nashville. He is the son of Lori and Mark Daniels of Brandon.
