Lynx rule Trojans on home mat

Brandon Valley largely had their way on their home mat Dec. 21, as the Lynx controlled Worthington, 47-17 bumping up their dual record to an impressive 6-0.
Coach Derek Outland noted the consistent effort throughout the Lynx lineup this season.
“We’ve been getting good production through all of our weights so far this dual season,” he said. “Overall, I thought our guys were very aggressive and did a great job earning bonus points.”
BV won four matches by pin. Shouldering their opponents Thursday night were Isaac Klinkhammer (120 pounds), Creighton Klinkhammer (145), Damion Schunke (152) and Nathan Ihnen (170).
Tate Johnson, at 126 pounds, and Kobi Terpstra, 138 pounds, each claimed victory by major decision.
“Both had to work hard for major decisions to earn an extra point for the team,” Outland said. “It’s that kind of effort and team attitude that translates to dual success.”
The Lynx grapplers return to the mat this Friday and Saturday at the always-competitive Floyd Farrand Invitational at Sioux Falls Lincoln. Friday’s action starts at 11 a.m. and Saturday’s session gets underway at 10 a.m. BV then heads into a stretch of ESD Conference meets, including a Jan. 5 road match at Huron, the Jan. 6 Lynx Invite, and a triangular at Aberdeen on Jan. 12.
“The ESD is generally considered to be the best conference in the state, so we’ll need to be prepared,” Outland said.
